An Increase in Babies Born with Painkiller Addiction
The Journal of American Medical Association released a report lately stating that in 2009 3.4 out of every 1,000 babies born suffered from withdrawals from a prescription painkiller. This number of incidences of mothers using opiates during pregnancy from 2000-2009 has increased five fold. Statistics reveal that every hour, a baby is born with an addiction.
Potent Injectable Painkiller Recalled by Manufacturer
The drug company, Hospira, recalled a single lot of the injectable form of hydromorphone hydrochloride because they received two complaints that the syringes contained more than the 1-milliliter dose. The recalled products have the lot number 07547LL and have an expiration date of July 1, 2013. This batch of painkillers was delivered to distributors in 28 states.
